::: Presentations on white cultural conditioning, racial justice, and alliance-building across difference are offered for
colleges, organizations, and student groups with a commitment to social change.
Standard format: 40-minute lectures are followed by 20-50minute Q&A sessions, with optional facilitated caucus group
meetings (recommended) to follow. (For caucus groups, 60 to 90 minutes are needed following the presentation, and additional
1-2 additional facilitators will be required for this period.)
::: Alliance-building day-long workshops and weekend intensives focus on providing basic understandings and resources
for groups to continue working on racism and other forms of social oppression within their communities. Facilitation is offered
for groups to work on social issues as they arise between group members and between the group and the larger communities in
which they operate. Conflict is explored in a non-blaming way that invites members to take responsibility for listening, learning,
and intervening against social oppression while treating each other with kindness. Anger is worked with as an essential element
in addressing injustice when balanced with compassion and concern for the well-being of all. For multi-racial groups, a co-facilitator
who is a person of color experienced in addressing racism is required, and some work will take place in caucus groups.
::: The UNtraining is a program for white-identified people who want to develop awareness and skills to intervene against
racism. This 30-hour program is offered in four different formats to meet various scheduling needs. Its standard form is as
a 6-month program, meeting one 5-hour day each month, with reading and practice assignments between meetings. The program
is also offered in 6 weeks, with one 5-hour session each week, or as a 3-weekend program.
::: Theatre of the Oppressed: participatory theatre for non-actors, based on the work of Paulo Freire and Augusto Boal,
engages participants in creative exploration of social oppression and provides a play space for community-building and deep
interaction addressing challenges participants face in their social change work. Ideal for day-long and weekend intensive
sessions.
::: Additional trainings and presentations are tailored to the needs of individuals and organizations.
CLIENTS are often social justice-oriented nonprofit organizations, spiritual centers, community groups and colleges, including
Buddhist Peace Fellowship, California Institute of Integral Studies, Laney College, Merritt College, NASCO, New College, Occidental
College, Pacific School of Religion, SFSU, Sarah Lawrence College, Tassajara Zen Mountain Center, UC Berkeley, Unitarian Universalist
Church of Berkeley, University of Michigan, University of Wisconsin, and numerous others committed to building alliances for
social change.
